The Cup of Brotherly Love
Cup of Brotherly Love On September 27th, 1923, W.'. B.'. Norman B. Hickox raised his son to the sublime degree of Master Mason. That day, Inspired by his knowledge of Freemasonry, as well as that of the mystic, he presented Evans Lodge a beautiful chalice made of gold and silver, cunningly wrought and expertly engraved with symbols and lore of the craft. Impressed as they were with this magnificent gift, and moved by the array of Masonic symbols and lore represented and the inspiration embodied in this Cup, the brethren of the lodge deliberated and resolved to tangibly transform it into a symbol of universal brotherly love and goodwill. On that evening they conceived a plan which would ultimately encompass decades and a world war when they choose to send it around the world as 'The Cup of Brotherly Love'.
Cup of Brotherly Love in its Case

In 1929, this Cup began its journey around the world, always travelling in an easterly direction, and always in the hands of a Master Mason as it journeyed from lodge to lodge, traveling through the ravages of war and fascism in Germany and Europe, the ancient Holy Land of the Middle East, through countries where Masonry was forbidden, and through countries where its presence was openly celebrated.

The complete history and the Cup itself are zealously guarded today in the hands of the Brethren of Evans Lodge No. 524. Presentations are scheduled regularly in the Temple to tell the complete story and to display the Cup for observation and appreciation of its history and meaning. Private displays and presentations at different lodges are possible and can be arranged through the Secretary or the current Master of the Lodge.
